These aren't your grandmother's cloth diapers! 

Like other everyday items, diapers have evolved too and the reasons are many.  Hopefully, after learning the facts you will wonder why anyone chooses to use disposables.

   





Cloth is better for our planet. 

Each year in the United States, 18 million disposable diapers end up in landfills, filled with human waste that can potentially leak into the ground.  Also consider the impact of the enormous manufacturing process required for all of those disposable diapers that are used for only a very short time and sent to the trash.  

Cloth diapers save you money! 

It's much cheaper over the long run to wrap your little bean's bum in cloth.  Compare the average cost of using disposables from birth to potty training: at least $2,000 over 18 to 36 months.  Using a pocket diaper system will probably cost about $300 - $700. These diapers are so well made that some parents even use them for their next children!  How's that for saving some money?  Lots of it!

Most importantly, cloth diapers are better for our babies.

Disposable diapers are manufactured using plastic and chemicals, including sodium polyacrylate (the absorbent gel) and dioxin, a by-product of bleaching paper.  With cloth you get nothing but, well, cloth against your baby's bum! Using cloth helps prevent diaper rash because they are changed more often than disposables.  Many parents believe cloth diapers encourage earlier potty training because the bum can feel wetness more readily than in a disposable.                


 

Our final point might seem a long shot but hear us out.  Cloth diapers are convenient.  That's right, convenient.  Today's cloth diapers, in particular pocket diapers, are just as easy to use as disposables.  Dads and babysitters can use them with ease.  Our little bean has even had his changed by his Nune (that's grandfather in green bean speak!)  Daycare centers are increasingly open to cloth diapers, especially once they're shown how simple and effective they are to use.
